 | | On June 22, a workshop on “improving efficiency of combativeness and fighting against drug crimes in the new situation” was held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi. The workshop aimed to mark the Action Month of Drug Prevention and was within the framework of the government's drug prevention and control programme.
Participants at the meeting paid special attention to building and bolstering the character and ethics of police forces in charge of fighting drug crimes. The workshop also focused on the implementation of coordination regulations issued by the government on fighting against drug crimes between police forces and border soldiers, border custom forces and marine police.
There are around 170 thousand drug addicts across the country and they consume around 10 kg of heroin each day. The artifice of drug users in the country is becoming more sophisticated.
Over past five years, forces combating drug crimes, of whom drug crime investigation police are the key force, have investigate over 64 thousand cases, eliminated more than 3 million hot spots of drugs and seized thousands of kg of various kinds of narcotics. In addition, a large number of provinces and cities nationwide have organised various campaigns to encourage people to keep away from drugs and eliminate drug hot spots in their localities.
