| by KYW’s Karin Phillips A golf classic scheduled for Monday will support an organization that provides wellness support services to those living with HIV and AIDS. Siloam is a non-profit organization that helps people living with HIV and AIDS by -- according to Executive Director Jim Sheehan -- helping them get in contact with their own selves, other people, the natural world and a power greater than themselves. Hence, says Sheehan, the organization's name – Siloam:
“It actually comes from the Christian scriptures in the Gospel of John. It's the name of a healing pool of water outside the city of Jerusalem where it was believed where people could go and bathe and experience physical healing.”
Siloam's annual golf classic at the Springfield Country Club Monday will help fund the organization's support groups, counseling service, and retreats and outreach programs. |
